Mrs. Baker was born in Harmony, ME, to Harold M. and Methyl (Flagg) Robinson; she moved with her family to Easton, MA, and graduated in 1947 from Oliver Ames High School.
She married Jared Baker in 1950 and moved with their family to Wilmington in 1966. She worked for Vermont National Bank until 1969 when she resigned her position to start her own business, Nene’s Needles & Knacks Knitting Shop. She moved back to Massachusetts with her husband and youngest daughter in 1972. Her other children remained in the valley to raise their families. Her daughter, who replaced her at the bank, continues to work there today and her son has worked for Guy E. Nido for more than 30 years.
Mrs. Baker enjoyed many years of service to the American Legion Auxiliary, which she joined in 1951. She served as Girls State counselor for more than 20 years and was an active member of the Red Hat Society. She became a member of the Duxbury Webster Grange in 1987 where she served as their treasurer until she moved back to Vermont in 2007.
Mrs. Baker is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas J. and Nancy E. Baker, of Wilmington, and two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce J. and Douglas M. Brooks, of Wilmington, and Barbara A. Cummings and Timothy L. Wessel, of East Taunton, MA; her brother, Arthur A. Robinson, of Dunedin, FL; and her sister, Joyce E. Savory, of Hanson; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Baker will be announced and held later in the spring in the family lot in Riverview Cemetery in Wilmington.
