Mr. Langran was a World War II soldier who fought in Africa, Italy, and Eastern Europe. He followed the war with a lifetime of believing it preferable that peaceful resolution to any conflict is better than aggression. After his term he continued to serve his country by joining the Coast Guard in the south of England, enriching his love for all things maritime.
Mr. Langran was married to Christine Rose Jolly for nearly 55 years. They resided in Newhaven, England for most of their married life. He is survived by their three sons, Graham Langran, his wife Mary-Anne, and their children John and Lucy, of Allium Farm, England; Phillip Langran and his wife Jenny, their children Max and Rosa, of Nottingham, England; and John Langran, his wife Denise and daughter Una, of Wilmington, VT. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and one great-grandson. Granddaughter Julia and her partner David gave birth to Mr. Langran’s first great-grandson, appropriately named Alfie. Grandson David Langran currently resides in California.
Mr. Langran is also survived by his loving partner and friend who cared very much for him up until the very end, Dorothy Loveridge of Eastbourne, England.
Mr. Langran is survived by his sister, Ada Hawkes, of London, and her two sons, Dennis and Roger Hawkes; Peg Langran, sister-in-law, and her three children, Margaret, Simon, and Jill.
Mr. Langran’s passions included woodcarving, bowling, long walks by the seaside, and chatting on a park bench on subjects as rich and varied as his life was full. Mr. Langran frequently visited his family in Wilmington, VT, making Dot’s his favorite stopping place.
Mr. Langran’s funeral is scheduled for Friday, March 27, at Richard Green Funeral Service, East Sussex, England. In lieu of flowers the family requests that any donations be sent to the Alzheimer Fund Donation in his memory.
