In the next two weeks the Twin Valley academic committee will be conducting two visioning sessions with the parents and community to help redefine the educational mission and vision for the new Twin Valley school system. Our goal is to better understand what people value most about education and to include our common values in the way we operate the schools.
Great schools have clear focus in their purpose and goals. Students, parents, and community members should expect these new governing documents to influence much of what we do from the classroom to the board meetings.
Everyone from the community is welcome. We would also like to welcome parents from our neighboring towns who may send their children to Twin Valley Schools. We will also be including teachers and students in separate sessions.
The dates for these meetings are:
Thursday, September 20, 7 pm, at the Whitingham gym.
Tuesday, September 25, 7 pm, at the DVES gym.
For those who are unable to attend, we will be making announcements for other ways to participate in this process on the school websites under the academic committee section.
Also on these websites there will be school construction information and updates starting next week.
Below are the five questions we will be asking participants of the visioning sessions:
The school- What are the key values or characteristics that describe a great school system?
The learning- What skills, virtues, abilities or training should every child master before completing high school?
The students- What are the characteristics that define an outstanding student?
The teachers- What are the characteristics that define a great teacher?
The parents and community- What characteristics indicate strong parent and community relationships with our schools and our children’s education?
If you plan to come, please take some time to consider how you would respond to these questions.
Please come and join us.
