LeQuier and Angus have been sandblasting on both blown and plate glass in their Readsboro studio since 1983. Both artists use sandblasting techniques to create carved glass sculpture, vases, and perfume bottles. The workshop is an introduction to sandblasting on glass. Participants will experiment with frosting to deep carving on small glass tiles of varying thickness, as well as cutting through the colored layer on flashed glass samples. The class will try different resist materials and create samples to take home. Discussion will include the equipment, media, and technique involved in the sandblasting process. The workshop will be held on Saturday, May 19, from 1 to 4 pm, at Readsboro Glassworks.
Contact Angus at (802) 423-7706 or info.readsboroarts@gmail.com to register for the sandblasting workshop. A donation of $25 is requested. Space is limited to eight participants and preregistration is required. Registration deadline is May 14.
All proceeds support future Readsboro Arts events and programming. In addition to presenting the ArtsMeet workshops, Readsboro Arts hosts the annual Readsboro Arts Festival. This year’s festival will be held September 15 at Readsboro Central School.
