Local gymnasts soar to good season start at Green Mountain Invitational

BRATTLEBORO- Gymnasts from Woodman Athletics showcased their routines alongside gymnasts from all over Vermont at the Green Mountain Invitational. The meet was hosted by the state of Vermont and held at Woodman Athletics.

Woodman Athletics level six team captured gold in the team competition with a 109.125. In the Junior A age division, Ella Warner took silver on vault with a 9.575, gold on beam with a 9.375, and gold on floor with a 9.375 to earn individual gold in the all-around with a 36.925, the highest all-around score of any level six in the entire meet. Also competing in the Junior A age division were Amelia Goldberg and Janie Hawthorne. Goldberg’s 8.65 on floor and Hawthorne’s 8.4 on bars were both instrumental in winning the team competition. In the Senior A age division Elena Tansley took gold on beam with a 9.475, bronze on floor with an 8.8, and bronze in the all-around with a 35.375. Also in the Senior A age division, Lily Pabo took gold on bars with an 8.85 while sister and teammate Moriah Pabo took silver on beam with a 9.325. Sarah Young and Breanna Glover competed in the Senior A age division as well, and both had impressive performances.

Woodman Athletics’ level seven team took silver in the team competition with a 109.9. In the Junior A age division Lindsay Rose captured individual gold in the all-around with a 36.825, the highest all-around score of any level seven in any age group. Rose took gold on bars with a 9.425, silver on beam with a 9.15, and silver on floor with a 9.45. In the Senior A age division Sophie Knittle captured gold in the individual all-around with a 36.425. Knittle took gold on vault with a 9.4, gold on bars with a 9.125, and gold on beam with a 9.1. Teammate CeCe Arrison took silver in the individual all-around with a 36.25, placing in the top three on all four events. Arrison took silver on vault with a 9.15, bronze on bars with an 8.85, silver on beam with an 8.9, and gold on floor with a 9.35. Maya Ginsberg and Caitlyn Ramsey also competed in the Senior A age division. Ginsberg took bronze on beam with an 8.5 and bronze on floor with a 9.2.

Woodman Athletics’ level four team took third in the team competition with a 110.35. Woodman’s youngest level four competitor, Leila Young, captured silver in the Junior A all-around competition with a 35.125. Young took silver on vault with a 9.25 and bronze on bars with an 8.8. Teammate Maeve Smith took bronze in the Junior B all-around competition with a 36.025. Smith took silver on vault with a 9.4 and gold on floor with a 9.225. Loren Pike and Kate Perrin also competed in the Junior B age division. Audrey LaMorder, Julia Angell, and Ivy Dall competed in the Level 4 Senior A age division. LaMorder captured gold on beam with a 9.5 and gold floor with a 9.275 and Dall took the gold on vault with a 9.55. Angell’s 9.4 on vault counted toward the third-place team score. Jess Goulas, Sarah Williams, Kendall Solomon, and Sawyer Beauchamp competed in the level four Senior B age division. Williams took the bronze on floor with a 9.125. Beauchamp’s 9.125 on beam put her in fourth place, but was instrumental in her team taking bronze in the team competition.

Nenah Fitch, Woodman’s sole level nine, had a good showing. Fitch captured gold on bars with a 7.95, silver on vault with an 8.65, and silver on floor with an 8.85.

Woodman Athletics’ level five team had good individual showings. Powerhouse Cassie Dunn captured gold on the vault in the Junior B age division with a 9.4. Carly Gallivan, Woodman’s youngest level five, took the bronze medal on floor in the Junior A age division with a 9.25. Sister Cassidy Gallivan and teammates Lillie Richards and Althea Champion also competed in the Junior A age division. Nicolette Rivas, Maggie McKay, XiXi Matathias, and Grace Stein competed in the level five Senior A age division.

All of the gymnasts on the Woodman Athletics’ gymnastics team have qualified for the USAG Vermont State Championship Meet to be held the weekend of March 31 at Windsor High School. Before going to states, the girls competed at Phantom Gymnastics in Hampstead, NH, on February 11 and 12, and will compete locally at the Hip Hop Classic at Woodman Athletics on March 10 and 11.

Woodman Athletics’ pre-team had the first meet of their season directly following the Green Mountain Invitational. The meet was hosted by Woodman Athletics. Sarah Gordon-Macey, Pooja Meyer, Aliza Speno, Sara Perrin, Courtney Solomon, Madelyn Goldberg, Sophia Mikijaniec, and Anja Stolper made up the nonsanctioned level three team while Brianna Paul, Meagan McLaughlin, Mya Frazier, Grace Auger, andSarah Gallagher made up the nonsanctioned level four team. “It was a great start to the season with strong performances by all the girls.” according to coach Keri Woodman.
