Leland & Gray placed fourth overall in the boys’ division, while Twin Valley High School finished sixth. Scores were an aggregate of the halfpipe, giant slalom, and slopestyle events. In the event-only scores, Twin Valley placed third and Leland & Gray fifth. Burr and Burton Academy won the overall titles in both categories.
Individually, Leland & Gray’s James Crowther won the boys’ halfpipe event, while Twin Valley’s Gus Wing finished third. L&G’s Danny Childs finished 10th. Also scoring points were TV’s Dylan Brage, Ricardo Pereira, Trey Cunningham, Nick Birch, and Jason Moore. Dereck Fisher, Dylan Jerz, and Adam Beattie got on the board for Leland & Gray.
In slopestyle, Wing finished fifth and Crowther seventh, while Pereira just missed cracking the top 10, finishing in 11th position. Birch and Tony Tarr also were on the board for Twin Valley, as was Bousque Ruppert for Leland & Gray.
In the giant slalom, Crowther finished seventh and Childs tenth for Leland & Gray, while Wing, Birch, Tarr, and Pereira led the way for Twin Valley.
Green Mountain High School won the overall girls’ competitions. Neither Twin Valley nor Leland & Gray had any competitors in the girls’ events.
“It was a productive season,” said Twin Valley coach John Keegan. He also cited Wing for his standout individual performances in the halfpipe and slopestyle events at the state finals.
Keegan is looking forward to next year, as well. “Nick Birch is the only senior,” he said. “We’ll have basically the same team coming back. It should be a strong team for next year.”
