Mount Snow Academy riders, racers do well

DOVER- The last of this year’s Southern Vermont Series snowboard competitions were held at Okemo this weekend, and Mount Snow Academy riders scored strong finishes in both slopestyle on Saturday and halfpipe on Sunday. Of particular note were the juniors (ages 16 and 17). Ericka Biagioni, Christina DeJoseph, and Allie Kaplan owned the podium, taking the three top women’s spots in both disciplines. Dillon Wilson, Wyatt Mosher, and Austin Schweyher claimed the first through third positions, respectively, in slopestyle on Saturday. Schweyher also took second in the pipe on Sunday.

In the youth division (ages 14 and 15), Noelle Edwards won the halfpipe competition and took third in slopestyle among women, and Max Lyons claimed third in both events among the men.

Jessica Gibson came in second in the women’s open division in half-pipe on Sunday. On Saturday, she traveled to Stratton for the Volcom’s Peanut Butter Rail Jam, where she also claimed the number-two spot.

Alpiner Harrison Mullen headed to Sunday River this weekend to compete in the J3 finals for skiers age 13 and 14. He competed in slalom, giant slalom, and the super G, in which he placed eighth.

J2 skier Ian Wolff traveled to Killington for the Vermont Cup slalom finals, where he came in ninth out of 56 finishers. Wolff is headed for Whiteface this weekend to compete in the FIS Eastern Regional Championships.

Freestylers headed for the B Eastern Regional Finals for the Central Region, which were held at Killington.

From the MSA contingent, Calvin Lyons placed 12th and Andrew Powell 13th. They’ll move on to the championships at Mount Snow this weekend .
