READSBORO- “Local Treasures” is the theme of the latest fall and winter 2012-13 ArtsMeet schedule, sponsored by Readsboro Arts. ArtsMeet is expanding to include the literary, horticultural, and culinary arts, plus trips to nearby cultural events. “Treasures” include workshop offerings by celebrated locals Joe Eck, Mark Lowe, Mandy Comai, and others.

The next Readsboro ArtsMeet event is a writing workshop with Readsboro poet, writer, and teacher Elizabeth McHale on Saturday, November 10, from 2 to 5 pm. McHale will present “Everyone Has Something To Say!” a writing workshop for all: from poet to letter writer to family biographer. Participants will draw from numerous exercises and practices to explore new possibilities in their writing. Participants will learn techniques and strategies they can use on their own after the workshop as well. All levels welcome.

McHale is a poet and writer who has been published in various literary magazines and journals. In addition she has published several chapbooks and founded her own small literary press, MidGard’n Press. She has been a poet in the schools in southern Vermont and currently teaches at the Community College of Vermont. She has a background in publishing and holds an MFA in creative nonfiction from the Vermont College of Fine Arts.

McHale’s writing workshop will be held Saturday, November 10, from 2 to 5 pm. The cost is $25. Space is limited to 12 and preregistration is required. Call Mary Angus at (802) 423-7706 to register.

Proceeds from ArtsMeet workshops support Readsboro Arts programming and the annual Readsboro Arts Festival. Readsboro Arts is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation supporting the growth of the arts in Readsboro and surrounding communities.
