WILMINGTON- The season’s second Village Stroll will be held on Saturday, July 28, in conjunction with the Blueberry Block Party in downtown Wilmington. The stroll starts at 5 pm with a ton of strolling activities including musicians stationed around the village, circus lawn at Memorial Hall, sidewalk chalking around the village, Jessica’s Closet ladies all dressed up and selling tickets, village geocaching and more.

Events include the musical stylings of environmental performers Bash the Trash at Pettee Memorial Library at 5 pm and the tae kwon do demonstration on the Crafts Inn lawn at 6 pm.

Stores are staying open late for the stroll and will offer a number of sale items.

Gallery Wright will demonstrate the art of printmaking outside the store. Come and make a blue print. Beadz Needs will be demonstrating how to make a blueberry out of beads for your keychain or pendant. Artists Ann Coleman and Ellie Roden will be set up outside displaying and selling their art. Bartleby’s will pull raffle prize winners from the Where’s Waldo scavenger hunt.

After experiencing the fun of the stroll and doing some shopping, stroll on over to the Blueberry Block Party on South Main Street. The Jacksonville Blues Band will start at 6:30 and will play until 9 pm. Kids up to 15-years-old can register for the blueberry pie-eating contest at 5:30 pm on South Main Street. There is a $3 registration fee and it’s first come, first served. Alotta Hoopla will be demonstrating the art and fun of hula hooping.

Village business owners, town committees, and volunteers are hard at work restoring a vibrant village here in Wilmington. Come on out on Village Stroll night to show support for Wilmington’s recovery.
