Time to get on the recovery bandwagon

To the Editor:

It’s time to send a message to Central Appliance. It’s time to say we are unhappy with the appearance of their building and stop patronizing them until they paint it. Central Appliance is an eyesore in an otherwise beautiful town, full of white paint and flowers, making it a treat for the eyes of everyone passing through. It’s time they get on the “recovery bandwagon” and until they support us, I feel that the residents of the Wilmington/Dover communities should not support them.

Their building is an insult to all those who have made such a magnificent effort to restore normalcy in the valley.

I've felt that the southern entrance to beautifully landscaped West Dover needs more than a scruffy building, paint peeliing, home made signs, absolutely no landscaping and until recently an abandoned Central Appliance truck acting as a billboard, skirting the Vermont billboard ordinance.

The Central Appliance facility on East Main Street in Wilmington is equally shabby, an offense to neighbors who keep their yards so attractive.

O.K., Central Appliance, what's your excuse?

Shame on you Valley News for even printing this letter. There are other properties in this town that are up to other people's standards but you can't tell others how to live. In the present economy, and with the mantra of "shop locally" is it really a good idea to boycot a local business, that has been in the valley over 20 years? Perhaps there are other factors at work here, like they may not be getting paid from one of the large property management companies in the area. Either way, trashing a local business over aesthetics, rather than their service is deplorable.

PS: Valley News, they run an ad in your paper every week. Don't bite the hand(s) that feed you.
