DEERFIELD VALLEY- Local craftsman and Mount Snow ski instructor Keith Rodney has been named to a regional telemark ski team. He will compete in regional and national telemark competitive events and can obtain eligibility to race in FIS World Cup events.

The United States Telemark Ski Association (USTSA) announces the 2012-2013 regional ski team roster, filling 11 positions with athletes from Montana, Colorado, California, Vermont, New Hampshire, New York, and Massachusetts.

New to the team this season are seven members from the Northeast. All of them attended the US National Championships at Gunstock, NH, last March and demonstrated their racing abilities with strong results as well as their passion for the sport. All are committed to help develop a race schedule in New England over the next several years.

These Northeast team members include: Julie Brown, of Perkinsville, VT; Sara Godek, of Allenstown, NH; Jody Miller, of Buffalo, NY, Bill Pammer, of Bethel, NY, Rodney, of Mount Snow, VT; Devon Wright, of Campton, NH; and veteran racer Mark Haberle, of Waitsfield, VT. Haberle was a member of the US National Team from 1996 to 2000.

“These regional team members have a passion for telemark skiing and racing and they are great ambassadors for the sport on their home mountain”, said Russ Hobbs, USTSA president. “We are excited to see what they can do this season.”

This year’s squad features two returning competitors, including Scott Edgerton of Missoula, MT and Larry Bosche of Berkley, CA. Both racers have been members of the regional team since its inception in 2010.

In addition, Garrett Long, former B team member, and Nick Resignolo, former Development Team member, have been named to the Regional Team.

This season’s race schedule is still being finalized, but there should be sanctioned races in Montana, Utah, Colorado and New Hampshire. The US Telemark National Championships will be held in Steamboat Springs February 22-24, 2013.
