Monday is Labor Day, and if ever there was a year when thanks need to be given for work done, it’s this year.

Thanks to all those who ventured out on the day of Irene, warning people about the pending floods and helping them get to safety. Thanks to all who volunteered in those early days after the floods, who worked tirelessly to help individuals and businesses get through those difficult days, to clean out and clean up. Thanks to the National Guard and Army engineering troops who helped rebuild roads, and by doing so rebuilt hope. Thanks to all who have established recovery funds, those who donated to them, and those who worked hard making sure the funds went to those who were in need.

All of those efforts played critical roles in getting us back on our feet. We will be forever grateful
