“We’re a little thin right now,” said coach Buddy Hayford. “On top of that, it was a cold day and we cut short some events. We didn’t do all that we wanted. But it was good for those who participated.”
Freshman Cassie Bratton turned in times of 31.78 seconds in the 200-meter run and 14:58 in the 3000. She also threw the discus 47 feet 4 inches.
On the boys’ side of the meet, Jared Lambert threw the javelin 75-4, the discus 57-5, and put the shot 27-5. Evan Therrien put the shot 21-8.
Connel Sullivan ran the 400 in 62.84. “That was pretty good for his first run,” said Hayford. “I’d like to see him get that down under a minute.”
Jeremy Hunt long-jumped 14-3 and was clocked at 13.5 in the 100. Hayford also said he thought Hunt could improve on those numbers with better weather and more experience under his belt.
Twin Valley didn’t have enough athletes compete to earn a team score. Other schools competing were MAU, Fair Haven, Arlington, Hartford, and Hoosac Valley, NY.
Twin Valley will compete in Brattleboro on Thursday afternoon. The team is back in Brattleboro on Friday, April 20 for the annual Fenn Relays.
