“The Woman in Black,” adapted by Stephen Mallatratt from the suspense novel of the same name, is about a man who had a haunting experience in his younger years that has weighed heavily on his conscience. When he turns to a seasoned actor to show him how to tell his story, he not only finds his own talent as an actor, but he makes a chilling discovery. In Mallatratt’s words, “The intent of this show is to frighten - if it doesn’t, it’s nothing. The fear is not on a visual or visceral level, but an imaginative one. There are no gouts of blood nor any but the simplest of special effects.”
Actors involved in this project have a hands-on role making a haunting happen on stage. Jess Callahan Gelter is the director.
Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 pm, and Sunday performances at 3 pm, at the Hooker-Dunham Theater and Gallery.
