To the Editor,

On Wednesday December 11, the White House Inn was filled with laughter and holiday cheer from 150 area kids whose sole purpose was “making holiday gifts.” This year’s Santa’s Workshop was a collaboration of a valley of volunteers.

On behalf of the Pettee Memorial Library, I would like to thank those who contributed and volunteered time for this event.

Thanks to owner Stacey Tabor and general manager Jill Byarm and staff at the White House Inn for opening your doors to 250 local people and not even blinking when I realized we needed two floors. Thanks to the Deerfield Valley Rotary for hosting and serving lunch. Parents were thrilled to know that a hot lunch was waiting for them. You were amazing. There were yellow shirts everywhere. Thanks to Don Jones, “the Wizard,” for being our guest reader and entertaining families. Thanks to Kristine Sweeter of the Whitingham Free Library for coordinating the well-needed crafts for the older kids. Thanks to TVES WINGS program for joining us once again with great activities.

Thanks to the TVHS community service group for your help with crafts and mentoring. Thakns to Stephanie at TVES for collecting sign-up slips and posting library announcements.

Thanks to the Friends of the Library and friends of Friends, volunteers, and staff for assisting and managing craft tables. Your contributions make this event possible.

Thanks to the adults that attended despite the busy time of year, thank you for taking time and sharing this event with the kids.

Finally, thanks to the kids, continue to be creative and make gifts. Homemade gifts are treasures from the heart. Merry Christmas!
