To the editor:

I attended the Wilmington town council hearing last Wednesday regarding the 1% proposal. It was very encouraging to witness a cohesive group of business owners and individuals adamantly support that the 1% is earmarked specifically for economic development.

Building and supporting a strong downtown Wilmington is a critical pillar of success for our Deerfield Valley. Having vibrant, sustainable shops and restaurants is critical to this beautiful gateway to our region. Up to this point, there’s been a significant volunteer effort, however, there hasn’t been the corresponding dollars needed to spend on marketing and advertising. If invested properly from this fund, coupled with the continued enthusiasm and tireless work of concerned business owners and leaders, we can make a difference and influence buying decisions into our valley over other well-marketed and funded options.

This is our time ... let’s go!

Sincerely,

Jim Barnes

well then I'm sure you wouldn't mind BUYING the various parcels of land you expect DONATED to your various projects.

when you want something you expect it free! why not YOU add some money to town coffers by paying fair market value for the land you want, which you would just destroy like everything else you've touched
