WARDSBORO- The Friends of the Wardsboro Library is sponsoring a very special art raffle on Monday, July 4, at the 62nd annual Wardsboro Street Fair and Parade on Main Street. The street fair begins at 9 am and the parade at 10 am.

Two valuable prizes will be awarded, a hand hooked wool rug “America” (29” x 37”) by Wardsboro fiber artist Linda Gifkins, and an original, signed and framed watercolor (23” x 28”) by the late Claude Croney. The rug has a retail value of $850. The watercolor depicts the Gilfeather Road Bridge, Wardsboro. The estimated gallery value is $700 and was generously donated from the collection of a Wardsboro resident.

Raffle tickets will be sold at the Friends’ booth on Main Street on July 4 and at the Wardsboro Library Red Barn where a two day art show will take place on July 4 and 5.

Both the painting and the rug will be on display at the Friends’ booth at the street fair. The drawing will take place about 1 pm at town hall and the winner does not need to be present.

The proceeds of the raffle will benefit the Friends of the Wardsboro Library for the support of the Gloria Danforth Memorial Building.

The Friends of the Wardsboro Library is also sponsoring the annual art show in the Library Red Barn on Monday and Tuesday, July 4 and 5, from 9 am to 5 pm.

Paintings, photography, graphics, fiber art, sculpture, ceramics, glass, jewelry and more fine art crafts are beautifully showcased when the Red Barn is transformed into a glorious art gallery.

Fiber art and techniques will be featured at the 2011 show.
