WILMINGTON- Featured this month upstairs at Bartleby’s Books is an exhibit of southern Vermont landscape paintings by the husband and wife team of Mary Procter and Bill Matuszeski.

Procter has been coming to Whitingham for more than 50 years and she and Matuszeski have raised their three children and seven grandchildren to love their Vermont house, called Witch Hobble, with a view of Lake Clara.

There are over two dozen acrylic paintings on view, nearly all scenes from Whitingham, Wilmington, Dover, Marlboro, and Halifax. Included are barns, the Green River covered bridge, a tractor graveyard, and mountain vistas.

The paintings will be on exhibit until August 30. All of Vermont’s seasons are represented. Procter and Matuszeski have painted together for years and a number of the paintings are their individual takes on the same scene. They focus their effort on capturing the interplay of light and color in each scene they paint. For the past five years they have opened their house as part of the Memorial Day Vermont Open Studio event.

Bartleby’s Books is located at 17 West Main Street. The store is open every day from 10 am to 8 pm. For questions call (802) 464-5425, email bartbook@sover.net or visit myvermontbookstore.com.
