Mrs. Brown worked at Coombs Maple Products for 10 years, then at various places in the valley including True Value Hardware and Hogback Mountain. She was a Sunday school teacher, 4-H leader, and Cub Scout den mother. She was an avid Red Sox Fan. Mrs. Brown was a member and former elder of Whitingham Baptist Church. She loved her family, numbering 35, and enjoyed sewing, knitting, and making quilts for them. She loved sports, especially the Red Sox, and enthusiastically followed her children and grandchildren in their activities. She would always look forward to hunting season and visits from her family to show their trophies and share their experiences.
Mrs. Brown leaves her husband, Roy; her children, Larry and wife Linda Brown, Terry and husband Charles Dix, of Whitingham, and Anthony (Tony) Brown, of Mt. Pleasant, IA; her nine grandchildren, James and Ayako Brown, Laurie and Doug Dix, Michelle and Randy Smith, Dustin (Jim) Brown, April and Art Pieger, Melanie and Darby Howe, Sarah and Rodney Sprague, Leah Brown and Hunter Brown.
She had 14 great-grandchildren: Rikki and Tia Brown, Stephen, Brian, and Nicholas Dix, Zachary and Katelin Smith, Katalina and Benet Pieger, Madison and Hailey Howe, Connor, Caden, and Collin Sprague; and one great- great-grandson, Carson Dix.
She also leaves her sisters and best friends, Janice Kingsley, of New Hampton, NY, and Antoinette Betit, of Whitingham, as well as brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 21, at the Community Church of Whitingham, at 11 am, with Rev. John Brigham officiating. Burial will take place in the spring in Sadawga Cemetery.
