Mountain Chair Madness event needs some help

The Mount Snow Valley Chamber of Commerce is coordinating a BIG public arts event entitled “Mountain Chair Madness,” which will run from Independence Day through Columbus Day 2014.

Ginormous, oversized, wooden Adirondack chairs are being sponsored by patrons of the arts, the chamber, local businesses, organizations, and families. The Mountain Chair Madness chairs will be painted by area artists and will be on display in Jacksonville, Wilmington, and Dover and along routes 9 and 100 throughout the coming summer and foliage seasons, culminating in an October auction event. Proceeds from that event will benefit the chamber marketing fund for valleywide events and promotions. Each piece will also return 15% of its auction price to the artist who created it.

We’ve got sponsors without artists, and we have artists who need sponsors! We need our entire arts community to help! Sponsors will have their names (and up to three additional partners) prominently displayed on their ginormous Mountain Chair Madness chair throughout the event and will be named in all promotional pieces. Artists are asked to submit simple proposals by March 14, detailing just what they would do if they are selected to decorate a chair.

On March 20, the chamber and Harriman’s Restaurant will host a social for artists, sponsors, and interested community members to see the proposed projects. At this event, sponsors will select their preferred rendering and artist. Interested sponsors and artists are asked to pick up sponsor forms or an artist pack at the chamber office in Wilmington, contact to have the information emailed to you or call the chamber (802) 464-8092.
