DOVER- Mount Snow Academy alpine skiers participated in the Brad Haight Memorial Race at Mount Snow on Sunday, March 23. The event took place on a combination course¸ which included slalom, giant slalom, and stubbys. Alex Welter (Babylon, NY) and AJ Herrmann (Massapequa, NY) took the gold in the U16 age bracket for women and men respectively, and Jenni Hill (S. Orange, NJ) was ninth in the U14 age group. For the younger skiers, the U12 World Championships took place last weekend at Willard Mountain on Saturday and Magic Mountain on Sunday. Arianna Welter (Babylon, NY) took second place on both runs, placing her second overall for the day. Tess Beyer (Brewster, NY) had a sixth- and a third-place run, leaving her fifth for the day. The action moved to Magic Mountain on Sunday, where Beyer placed third and fourth and Welter fourth and eighth on the dual course. This left Beyer in third place and Welter in seventh for the entire weekend’s events.

Freeskier Connor Clayton (W. Simsbury, CT) is headed to the Dumont Cup, an AFP platinum-rated event at Sunday River, ME, this coming weekend. Clayton, who is currently rated 93rd in the world at the pro level, is hoping to garner AFP points that would allow him to move up in the standings.

On Saturday, MSA students and faculty were among those who took part in a parade celebrating Devin Day.
