HALIFAX- Helen Marilyn Harris, 79, a resident of Sprague Road, died Monday, December 16, at Vernon Green Nursing Home in Vernon.

Ms. Harris was born in Wilmington on January 30, 1934, the daughter of Byron and Faith (Mason) Harris, and attended the local school. She worked for American Fiber and Optic in Griswoldville, MA, for over 20 years and previously for Vermont Hardwoods in Readsboro for 22 years.

Ms. Harris enjoyed going to horse draws, listening to country music, especially at the Lone Star Ranch in New Hampshire, where she met George Jones, and Indian Ranch in Massachusetts. She loved her four-wheel-drive vehicle and traveling and camping in her motor home.

Ms. Harris is survived by her lifelong friend and companion, Juanita Gates; brother, Francis John Harris, of Bennington; sisters Gladys Herzig, of Piedmont, SC, and Kathy Haney and her husband Tom, of East Nassau, NY; nieces and nephews Byron Pike, Terry Harris, Kenneth Harris and his wife Terry, Robin Perry and her husband Brian; Randall Pike and his wife Stephanie, Bernard Whitney, Angela Rabideau, Frederick Crosby IV, and Nicole Pike and cousins. She was preceded in death by brothers-in-law Francis Pike and Fred Herzig.

The funeral services for Ms. Harris were held on Friday, December 20, at Covey-Allen & Shea Funeral Home. Rev. Irving Mullete officiated.
