BENNINGTON- Glenn J. Pike, 87, a resident of the Vermont Veterans Home and formerly of Spruce Grove in Wilmington, died Friday, August 23, at the Vermont Veterans Home surrounded by his family.

Mr. Pike was born in Wilming­ton on July 18, 1926, the son of Leland A. and Ruth L. (Johnson) Pike. He attended local schools, graduating from Wilmington High School.

After high school, Mr. Pike enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country during World War II. Mr. Pike later went to work for Dunham’s Shoe Factory and Emerson’s Furniture and then worked in maintenance for Marlboro College for many years.

Mr. Pike enjoyed the outdoors and loved hunting and fishing. He enjoyed hiking Haystack Mountain and cherished times spent with family and friends.

Mr. Pike is survived by his children, Lisa Gilbeau and her husband Dan, of Salisbury, NC, and Barry Pike and his wife Diane, of Lilburn, GA; his grandchildren, Heather Bedard, Adam and William Gilbeau, and Alexander and Jamie Pike; and his great-grandchildren, Robert and Alexis Bedard and Wyatt, Jackson and Violet Gilbeau.

At Mr. Pike’s request there is no formal funeral service. A small gathering for family and friends to celebrate his life will be held Thursday, August 29, at 6 pm at his home on Spruce Grove in Wilmington.
