Disturbed by herbicide use

To The Editor,

I am deeply disturbed by the accepted practice of using herbicides to maintain power lines (see recent public notices from Green Mountain Power). While it may be the more cost effective method, it seems that the water and land of the people serviced are being compromised. It is commonly known that this practice is not good for the environment as a whole and can immediately lead to all sorts of health issues for those who breathe the air, drink the water, and eat food grown on the earth - that’s all of us. More natural and organic methods and policies are being embraced around the world to diminish the harmful pollutants in our environment. That needs to be done here and now.

Let’s not give a silent vote of affirmation. I urge those of you who do not approve of this practice to speak out now, or your children will not have the fresh air or clean water that we all enjoy.
