May 7 and 8 was an incredible weekend for so many reasons. Yes, the Tough Mudder event was a huge success and hopefully all the businesses in the community benefited from this. However we truly feel the best part of the event was the support, effort, and genuine feeling of welcome that this entire community gave to the Tough Mudder participants. The majority of participants had never been to this valley before, have never skied at Mount Snow, ate at a local restaurant or stayed at a local inn. By the amazing sense of welcome these people received from our community we have no doubt a majority of them will visit us again in other seasons. Hopefully they will make this area their second home and continue to contribute to our economy and support our causes.
One review of the event wrote “Other significant contributions to the atmosphere actually came from the town of West Dover itself… everywhere we went we were greeted with “Good luck!” and high fives from locals. Neighborhood businesses posted signs welcoming “Tough Mudders” and bars even gave out free t-shirts to anyone running.”
Thank you, thank you, thank you. You have made so many everlasting impressions on a wonderful group of people who appreciated it more than you know.
The Tough Mudder was a success because we have amazing people in this community showing everyone what makes our spot in southern Vermont such a great place to live and work.
