HALIFAX- With only three members present, the planning commission decided to table the election of a new chair for yet another month. The only official business of the very brief meeting was to set a date for a conditional use hearing. Francis Brown Jr. and Barbara Brown wish to establish a business in the village; the hearing will be held on December 10 at 7 pm.

Selectboard chair Edee Edwards attended the meeting in her capacity of liaison to the commission. Edwards told the board that it is now “budgeting season” and asked them to prepare their budget request for the coming year. The commission did not spend the full amount appropriated for last fiscal year, but that money cannot be carried over to the next budget, nor is it certain just how much will remain after printing the new town plan, should it be passed by the voters.

Edwards also invited the board members to attend a December 11 meeting with the broadband/economic development committee and the Southeastern Vermont Economic Development group. Margaret Stoltzman said she will attend; Sirean LaFlamme will also attend, if personal circumstances permit.
