To the Editor:

High fashion and baked beans are not usually mentioned in the same sentence. However, in this case there is a very happy connection between the two. The Deerlield Valley Food Pantry is the recipient of the proceeds ($1 ,000 in cash and food) of a fashion show developed and presented by Sophie Ackert. The board and the clients we serve are deeply appreciative of the generosity of Sophie, her family, the participants in the show, and of course, the generous attendees. This donation enables us to help our clients with holiday meals, which can put a strain on limited food budgets. Sophie is a shining example of the generosity and care for others that we have found in working with many young people in the Deerfield Valley.

So again, thank you Sophie for your hard work and generosity.

Mary Jenkins, treasurer
