BRATTLEBORO- Wilmington glass artist Jen Violette will be featured in an upcoming exhibit at the Brattleboro Museum and Art Center entitled “Vermont Kids Design Glass II.” Violette created two whimsical blown glass sculptures based on kids drawings for the exhibit. Her pieces, entitled “Ballo” and “Mushroom Man,” were created using child artist drawings as reference. Over 800 unique kids’ drawings were submitted by area children in grades K-6 and just 24 drawings were chosen to be transformed into glass sculptures for the exhibit. The finished glass pieces and kids’ drawings will be on display starting November 1. The show opens at 5:30 pm during Friday’s Gallery Walk and will be on display at the museum through March 8, 2014. There are 24 glass sculptures in the exhibit, all based on drawings by area school children, transformed into glass by local glass artists. The glass pieces will be auctioned off when the show closes. For more information visit www.brattleboromuseum.org/2013/01/26/vt-kids-design-glass-2/.
