Bread and Puppet: The Nothing is Not Ready Circus and Pageant

The Nothing Is Not Ready Circus is for the not yet existing upriser masses and their kids who need to practice their upriser skills by teaming up with butterflies, cockroaches and elephants. Lions, horses and dogs are also employed to invent the correct rhythmical patterns that fight planetary destruction. The boot flags of the 15th century peasant revolution lead the way. Nothing Is Not Ready is the name of the situation that calls for a circus and a consequent pageant, to summon the latent powers of creatures who all suffer from an individually beneficial and massively oppressive civilization. A guest performance by Modern Times Theater and a Woodshed Gallery reception for artist Helen Rabin will follow the Pageant. Museum Tour - 1pm. Sideshows - 2pm. Circus - 3pm. Modern Times Theater and Woodshed Gallery reception to follow. Suggested donations $10 - no one turned away!

Guest Performance – Modern Times Theater

Modern Times Theater is duo entertainment at it’s best.  Mastering the thoroughly modern mediums of pantomime, puppetry and novelty music, husband and wife performers Justin Lander and Rose Friedman delight crowds with a fresh take on the entertainment styles of the past.  They are alumnus of the Bread and Puppet Theater, and Friedman is the 2014 affiliate artist at the Celebration Barn.  They are also co-founders of Vermont’s premier Vaudeville troupe Vermont Vaudeville. http://moderntimestheater.com/

The Woodshed Gallery – Helen Rabin

An exhibition of the work of Helen Rabin will be up in the woodshed gallery from July 11th through July 28th.  Helen Rabin has lived in Vermont: for most of her life.  A nearly-retired baker from Marshfield, she spends some time painting: some landscapes; some still life works; and a recent foray into abstract works based on folded paper.  There will be an opening reception in the gallery on Sunday July 13th following the pageant.

The Woodshed Gallery, Bread and Puppet's newest exhibition space, continues the Bread and Puppet tradition of bringing art to unconventional spaces.  It is located in the former woodshed between The Bread and Puppet Museum and the old farm house.  The gallery features rotating exhibits of new and archival Bread and Puppet work as well as the work of collaborators, friends and neighbors.
