Tuesday, August 28

Where:

Bartleby's Books, 17 West Main Street, Wilmington, VT 05363

Description:

Award-winning journalist and educator Yvonne Daley traveled across Vermont in the days and weeks following Irene, collecting these stories that are both heartbreaking and inspiring.  She has now collected those stories together in the book A MIGHTY STORM: STORIES OF RESILIENCE AFTER IRENE.  On Tuesday, August 28 at 5:00 p.m., Daley will read several pieces from the book at Bartleby's and talk about the powerful stories of resiliency that she encountered as she traveled the state. Daley wrote, “From Wilmington to Waterbury, the Deerfield River to Lake Champlain, the storm transformed Vermont. And in the following months, Vermonters themselves.” Copies of A Mighty Storm will be for sale, with proceeds earmarked for special funds for local residents and businesses that suffered losses from Irene.

Stop by Bartleby's to meet Yvonne and discuss your experiences if you'd like. There will still be time to get a bite to eat before heading to the candle light service of remembrance at 7:30pm.
