Raymond C. Foster

DOVER- Raymond C. Foster, 80, a resident of Old Town Road, died April 20 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.
Mr. Foster was born in Beverley, MA, on May 21, 1937, the son of the late Hoyt and Hazel Downs Foster. He grew up in Hollis, Long Island, NY, where he attended local schools and graduated from Seminary School in Hartford, CT. Mr. Foster pastored for 18 years, including in Pennsylvania and Iowa, before retiring in Connecticut. He was an avid reader and profound thinker. He enjoyed music and singing and was known for problem solving in many areas. He was interested in learning and trying something new, traveling, and followed the UConn women’s basketball program.
Mr. Foster is survived by his wife Jean Chamberlain Foster whom he married August 6, 1960 in Chelmsford, MA; children Steven Foster and his wife Elaine, of Whitingham, and Wendy Foster, of Dover.
A celebration of the life of Mr. Foster will be held Sunday, April 29, at 2 pm, at the First Congregational Church of West Dover. Interment will be private. There are no visiting hours.
